Senior Software Engineer, Cloud and DevOps

You will sit inside Corpshore Australia's IT outsourcing practice, a division of Corpshore Solutions Corporation, working across the cloud infrastructure and DevOps engagements we run for client platforms. This is a senior individual contributor role with real technical ownership: you are the person a client's engineering lead calls when a pipeline breaks or a production environment needs re-architecting, not a name on a resourcing sheet.

This role is remote-first in the fullest sense. You can be based anywhere in Australia, Sydney, Perth, Hobart, wherever suits you, provided your working hours give meaningful overlap with AEST business hours for standups, incident response and client calls. Day to day that means async work for a good part of your week, with a reliable block of overlap time reserved for the moments that need a live conversation rather than a ticket.

You will own CI/CD pipelines end to end for the client platforms assigned to you, building and maintaining build, test and deployment automation in tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins depending on the client's existing toolchain, and you will be the one who decides when a pipeline needs redesigning rather than another patch. You will write and maintain infrastructure as code, principally Terraform, provisioning and managing cloud environments across AWS, Azure or GCP as the engagement requires, and you will treat infrastructure drift as a defect to be fixed rather than a fact of life. Production reliability sits with you: you will design monitoring and alerting, run capacity and cost reviews, and lead incident response and post-incident write-ups when something goes wrong, including the client-facing explanation of what happened and what changes as a result. You will mentor less senior engineers on the team, reviewing their infrastructure and pipeline changes and building their judgement rather than just their task list. You will also own security-adjacent hygiene for the environments you manage, including patching cadence, credential rotation and access review, aligning practice with the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Essential Eight mitigation strategies where the client's own posture calls for it. You will contribute directly to client governance conversations, translating what changed in the infrastructure into terms an operations or delivery lead outside engineering can actually use.

At least six years in software engineering with a genuine weighting toward cloud infrastructure and DevOps, including production experience on at least one of AWS, Azure or GCP at a depth beyond using the console. Hands-on infrastructure as code experience, ideally Terraform, sufficient to design a module rather than only apply one someone else wrote. Real CI/CD pipeline ownership, not just participation in one someone else built. Container and orchestration experience, Docker as a baseline and Kubernetes in most engagements. Comfortable scripting in Python or Bash for the automation that inevitably falls outside the standard tooling. Strong incident response instincts, including the discipline to write down what happened while it is still fresh. The ability to mentor without micromanaging.

A current cloud certification (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator or the GCP equivalent). Kubernetes administration certification or comparable production depth. Experience supporting a client in a regulated sector such as financial services or healthcare, where change control and audit trail matter as much as the fix itself. Prior experience in an outsourcing or managed services environment, where you are supporting someone else's platform rather than your own product. Exposure to cost optimisation work on cloud spend, which client stakeholders notice quickly.
