IT outsourcing
QA and Test Automation Engineer
About the role
You will join a dedicated QA and test automation team that Corpshore Australia, a division of Corpshore Solutions Corporation, embeds directly inside a client's own sprint cycle. This is not a detached testing function working from a separate backlog. You will attend the client's stand-ups, work against the client's sprint board, and be measured against the client's own definition of done. The client account you support operates in a regulated space, the kind of product where a shipped defect is not just an inconvenience but a compliance question, so the standard of care expected here is genuinely higher than general-purpose QA work.
The role is hybrid from our Sydney office, with in-office days aligned to the team's sprint ceremonies and remote days for focused automation work. Expect a steady weekly rhythm rather than crunch-driven testing at the end of a cycle, because the whole point of embedding inside the sprint is to catch defects while they are still cheap to fix.
What you will do
You will build and maintain automated regression suites using tools such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress depending on the client's stack, and you will treat a flaky test as a defect in the suite itself rather than something to quietly ignore. You will work inside the client's own CI pipeline, wiring your automated suites into their build process so that a broken test blocks a merge rather than surfacing three sprints later. You will design and execute manual exploratory testing where automation cannot yet reach, particularly around new features before a regression suite exists for them. Because this account handles regulated, sensitive data, you will follow strict test-data discipline: synthetic or masked data only, never real customer records, in line with the reasonable-steps obligation the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) places on any business handling personal information, including the testing environments that touch it. You will triage defects with the client's developers directly, write clear reproduction steps, and track quality metrics such as defect leakage and automation coverage that you report at the client's own sprint review. You will contribute to test planning for new features from the design stage, catching testability problems before a single line of code is written.
What you bring
At least three years in QA or test automation, including direct experience with at least one modern automation framework such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress. Working knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or equivalent, and enough scripting ability in Java, Python or JavaScript to extend an existing test framework rather than only run it. Experience working inside an Agile or Scrum team as a genuine participant, not an external checkpoint. A clear understanding of why test data discipline matters when the product handles real customer or financial information, even if you have not yet worked on a formally regulated account. Careful, methodical documentation habits.
Nice to have
ISTQB certification or equivalent formal QA training. Performance testing experience with a tool such as JMeter or k6. Any exposure to a payments, banking or insurance platform, where the cost of a missed defect is measured in more than reputation. Experience with data masking or synthetic data generation tools specifically.
What we offer
A genuine embedded role on a client account with real technical weight, not a generic testing queue. Hybrid working from our Sydney office. The compulsory superannuation guarantee, currently 11.5 per cent and rising to 12 per cent, on top of your salary. A funded path toward ISTQB or an equivalent QA credential if you do not already hold one. A defined route toward a test automation architect or QA lead role as you take on more of the client relationship yourself.
