Corpshore Australia outlines cybersecurity practices aligned to the Essential Eight, and states plainly it holds no maturity level

Corpshore Solutions Corporation has set out how its managed cybersecurity service for Australian and New Zealand clients is organised against the Australian Cyber Security Centre's Essential Eight, while stating clearly that Corpshore has not achieved a stated Essential Eight maturity level and makes no certification claim of any kind against the framework.

The Essential Eight is a prioritised set of eight mitigation strategies, covering patching of applications and operating systems, multi-factor authentication, restricting administrative privileges, application control, restricting Microsoft Office macros, user application hardening and regular backups, with a companion maturity model running from level zero to level three. Corpshore's cybersecurity engagements, covering monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response and identity and access management, are designed to align with the priorities that framework sets out. That is a deliberately narrower claim than saying Corpshore has been assessed against it: alignment describes how practices are designed, not an outcome that has been independently audited or certified.

Corpshore is direct on this point because the distinction is easy to blur and the consequences of blurring it fall on the client, not the vendor making the claim. A business relying on a stated maturity level for its own compliance or insurance purposes needs that level to be real and current, not implied by loose marketing language. Corpshore's own FAQ on the service states the position without qualification: no maturity level has been achieved, and the Essential Eight is referenced as a recognised framework practices are aligned to, not a certification held.

"It would be easy to write 'Essential Eight aligned' on a page and let a reader assume more than that sentence says, and we are not going to do that," said Frank B.
