Business process outsourcing

Accounts and Payroll Manager

About the role

Based in Corpshore Australia's Wellington office (a division of Corpshore Solutions Corporation), working hybrid. You will manage a small team delivering accounts and payroll processing for both New Zealand and Australian clients from this office, which means running two different sets of payroll rules side by side under one roof.

You own payroll accuracy and compliance outright, including KiwiSaver administration on every New Zealand payroll run and a working awareness of Australian superannuation guarantee obligations on the Australian client payrolls processed from your team. When a client's own HR team cannot resolve a payroll query, it lands with you.

What you will do

You will run weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles across NZ and AU client accounts using platforms such as Xero Payroll, MYOB or Employment Hero, checking PAYE, KiwiSaver contributions and leave accruals against the Holidays Act 2003 for New Zealand staff, and superannuation guarantee calculations for Australian client payrolls run out of Wellington. You will manage a small team day to day, including quality-checking their pay runs before they go out, coaching them on the parts of NZ and AU payroll legislation they get wrong most often, and balancing workload across the team at peak periods. You are the escalation point when a client's HR contact cannot answer a payroll question themselves, and you are accountable for hitting each client's payroll SLA without exception. You will also handle end-of-year payroll reconciliations and reporting, and you are expected to track the transition from the Holidays Act 2003 to the incoming Employment Leave Act (assented 6 August 2026, taking effect 6 August 2028) so the team is not caught flat-footed when it lands.

What you bring

At least five years in payroll or accounts, including two or more in a supervisory or management capacity. Hands-on knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation (PAYE, KiwiSaver, the Holidays Act) and working knowledge of Australian superannuation obligations. Experience with at least one payroll platform used in the NZ or AU market. Proven people management experience, and strong English communication for cross-border client escalations.

Nice to have

A payroll certification or qualification recognised in New Zealand or Australia, experience running NZ and AU payrolls concurrently rather than one after the other, prior experience in a shared-services or BPO delivery environment, and early familiarity with the Employment Leave Act reforms.

What we offer

Employer KiwiSaver contributions, hybrid working, a professional development programme with funded study support, a leadership path toward senior operations roles, and hands-on exposure to cross-border AU/NZ payroll complexity that most local payroll roles never touch.
